Trails

While at Fin & Feather, enjoy the surrounding Sabine National Forest and its many hiking trails.

Trail Between the Lakes

This 28-mile trail through most of Sabine National Forest has many entry/exit points to make your excursion as long or brief as you’d like. The trail begins “just down the road” from Fin & Feather at the Lakeview Recreation site and runs right by the resort.

Canyon Rim Woodlands Trail

This nearby trail is easily accessible and well-marked. You’ll be walking into the woods after a short 20-minute drive from the resort.

Wild Azalea Canyons

A well-known area attraction for over a century, these canyons provide a wonderful spot for year-round hiking. Located about a 30-minute drive south, the area blossoms with wild azaleas in March.

Boles Field Recreation Area

This recreation area is traditional favorite among fox hunters and home to the National Fox Hound Cemetery. Boles Field is about a 45-minute scenic drive away from the resort.

Moore Wildlife Management Area

A few miles up the road from the resort lies the Moore Plantation Wildlife Management Area, which offers hunting and camping. Portable deer stands may be used on the over 27,000 acre area, but may not be left unattended for more that 72 hours.

Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail

Blessed with many native species and a multitude of migratory species passing through, this birding site on the Texas side of Toledo Bend Lake is a favorite among bird watchers. A number of bald eagles, Osprey and hawks make their home on the lake. Part of this trail near the resort is known as the Toledo Bend Lake Birding Trail.

Hodges Gardens

The well-known Hodges Gardens State park is a short, scenic drive south of Many, Louisiana. Hodges Gardens was the nation’s largest privately owned horticultural parkland and wildlife refuge and is one of Sabine Parish’s most celebrated attractions that is now a state park.
